Music

This will have almost nothing to do with makeup. And I know this is my makeup blog... but that's just it... it's my blog. I am in a music mood today... a kick really. I am listening to NUDE by Radiohead right now... as I type and I am swaying like I am at a piano and not a keyboard. I don't now many of my followers of my blog... but for me music is total Total . It can bring inspiration, form tears, fight crime for God sakes. Since this is a random post anyway... I am have to say I am so glad I can type without having to look at the keys... so I can really feel the music and twist and turn to it....

I know you must be like... what is this chick going on about?? But don't you feel like just sometimes you have to speak out about something or your day will not be complete??? My best friend(song change House of Cards) Chavon sent me for my birthday 3 DVDs full of music... I told her... "You know Chavon, I don't think I will be able to ever listen to all of this music. But you know me so well this is perfect!" I cherry picked over the 3 DVDs, finding some really really good gems that made me think of life, love, and time. Music does it to me... brings me back to when things were so sooooo much simpler. We all wish to go back to those times when the most you had to do was finish your homework and brush your teeth at night. Now, as most of you are around my age; there's job markets, car notes, kids, family, getting to the dentist, all the random things we mostly had no idea our parents had to think about. Am I right? And (Nikka Costa Push and Pull) now that we are in that space... we sometimes what to slip back right in to that homework world. I am rambling I know it... But I haven't found anything else in my life that can sooth me like music can.... or bring tears with the first chord [I Shall Believe by Sheryl Crow just listed not listening... it really makes me cry]. Or reminds me of a late afternoon trying to sync a video and a CD of the beginning of Lion King with a floor mate Leigh! Which took over an hour.

I remember the opening of the movie Garden State...ohhh and ahhhh. The movie had some amazing tunes... (Nick Drake One of These Things) really helped the story along... but I have to say it was one of the few soundtrack CDs I own. Right after I saw that movie, I went out and got the CD.
Some great free places on the web to LISTEN to music

http://blip.fm/ I am part of Blip here is my profile it's linked to Twitter so you'll be able to see some of my blips/tweets when I am feeling music'ee LOL!!

Ok I think the swaying and tears have taken over my thoughts... so enjoy the music people. The music that plays in your life... it doesn't have to be anything even close to anyone elses... or anyones thoughts on what you should listen to ..... Make your mind and life happy listen to what you feel is right for you. I am leaving with Drifting Along by Jamiroquai

Let me know some of your jams and favorite songs... comment below!!!
NOTE: NONE OF THE MUSIC LINKS ARE TO MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL. The links are to the exact song I was listening to while I typed. These are all from youtube and I am not advicating the use of unpaid music in videos... just saying.

Music played during editting:

So much going on!!

Sorry everyone!! So much has been going on since the beginning of this month... my poor blog and you all have missed out! I'll try to recap as much as I can.

Ok so most of you know I got a part time job with MAC!! WOOT WOOT!! That doesn't mean I will be all about them in my videos, tweets, or blog post... But it means I will be able to share more than just eyeshadow colors and lipsticks. Skincare is the base of any great makeup!! And this company has more than a few great skincare products!! Even though a lot of people know about these products... there are many uses for them!! And everyone wants more for the money right?!? RIGHT.
Also, I am over the moon for Maybelline's Color Sensational lipsticks... I have 6 so far!! They are super pigmented, true color, creamy... they are dreams!!! Here are the swatches of the ones I have so far.

So I had training for my new job for 5 days! It was intense... boy!!! WOW... so much to learn... like I said before... more than just eyeshadows, lipsticks, and paintpots!!! At the end I was even MORE excited to work... nothing beats being prepared for a job with all the training. One of the best parts of training.... THE PEOPLE... AWESOME!!! All levels of artists were there... so if you are a semi beginner or a independent freelancer... you can work your magic. I have heard a lot of people say they stayed away from applying at MAC because of the 5 day in a row training session that you have to take. #1 most people start in store or at counter WEEKS before they go to training. #2 if you miss a day you just have to make it up before you can get certified. #3 I'm about 95% sure travel and food is PAID for. So, talk to your local Counter mgr or Freestanding store mgr when you pick up your application. Another thing I loved about training... it wasn't stressful at all... of course you're being watched and it's like school... but it's safe! Everyone is learning and everyone really wants to be there... from the trainers, to the visiting Execs, and artist from different locations.

So my 2 spotlight products of the week:

MAC Wipes and Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks

Wipes
If the wipes feel too rough for you here's a hint(I learned years ago) with the package closed... store wipes upside down! Keeps even the top wipe moist. That roughness is the sugar embedded in the cloth. Also some people say the skin feels too moist after using the wipes... That's product that helps remove all makeup and prep skin for the next look quickly

Lipstick
48 pigment rich shades! I've never loved a drugstore lip product as much as I love this!! And you can find coupons online and in the Sunday newspapers!! The honey nectar that feeds the lips doesn't add a scent or stickiness. Look above for the swatches of the 6 I own! Find your shade
here!

Soooo that was a lot! Remember I have that contest coming up as soon as I reach 2,000 subs on my youtube channel!! The prizes.. I already did a video for!! and the POT IS GROWING!!! So I hope you all sub and tell your friends!! Most likely it will be after the Christmas/ December holidays so you might get an extra Holiday Gift of MAKEUP!! WOOT WOOT

Johnny Lavoy's 9x9 by the PowerGroup

I know I did a video about this last week, here are some pictures and a written review I promised.

Ok here's the back story.... I went to this years NYC Makeup show with Ivette (Girlcanpaint from youtube) and got to met her friend.... the wonderful and dare I say DREAMY Johnny Lavoy. As he performed his wonderful tricks (mini makeover) on Ivette, I was excited to watch. He used 5 of the 7 pigments that come in his set, from the Powder Group. He's 9x9 has 7 pigments and 2 creamy nail polished. There are 3 other kits sold by the Powder Group (James Vincent , Kate Best, and Gregg Hubbard) all 4 have different groupings of makeup. Including nail polishes, pigments, cream bases, and eye shadows. And hello it all comes in a clear makeup bag!!! I have been "playing" with these gems of my makeup collection for a few weeks now.... the textures are wonderful wet and dry. Both ways work wonderful... I give more detail about the uses in my video.

As I said in the video I used a home made mixing medium of water and Glycerin.... wet my brush, dipped and applied!

The links above show where and how you can pick up your own 9x9.

Check out the video from Girlcanpaint of Johnny working the 9x9.

Great Idea!

"Wow I've never used this blush." and " Have I ever worn this lipgloss???" and the best "I knew I already that Mulch e/s (brow pencil, HIP duo, NYX jumbo eye pencil, Relvon l/s... etc.)"
Any of these thoughts sound familiar to you? If so I think it's time we re-check out our collections.

This is my short story: I just brought a new 5 drawer desk top storage unit. Cause my lipsticks and blushes were getting out of control. I moved almost every draw around. I CAN'T BELIEVE a that stuff fit in just 15 drawers(before pic above). Because now that I have 20 drawers I STILL need more room!!! And can I tell you all the truth... half of the things I have... I've used only once! So I'm taking some advice I saw on one of my friends youtube channel.
Check out this video from Vanewpc and lets get to it.

Open up your stash/collections move stuff around... put it where you'll see it. Try some new color combos, reach in and pick out those colors you haven't used in months. Now that I'm using my stuff for work I am hoping to go thru my collection more now....

Here's the picture from tonight... note I haven't labeled yet.

I am starting a new series on youtube!

Trying to challenge myself.

I was lucky to meet a Celebrity Makeup Artist, Victoria Stiles. Meeting her has really made me want to kick off this series. I had a full on live tut for this look... all step by step. But the audio got totally messed up. So I did put together a video with some pictures and loads of info on the side bar of the video!

I hope you all enjoy the look and challenge yourself to trying something new too. Be on the look out for a new Celebrity Makeup Artist look this weekend!

p.s. the link to my youtube channel is over to the right.
