Fashion Week NYC 2009: The Hillary Flowers show

Hey all! So as you may know I worked the Hillary Flowers Fashion Week 2009 fashion show on September 10th. The show started at 11pm and was awesome.... I will have some more pictures when the event photos are up on Hillary's site. The clothes were amazing, the models were great, the space was tight but 100% fun! I got to meet some great people and also see some familiar faces!
Girlcanpaint aka Ivette and I worked the show together. I found the listing Hillary put out for her show, and I signed up and then told Ivette about it! It was great having a friend there! Then in walked Nicole, a fellow makeup artist I met back on May 2nd at the FDU fashion show!!! So it was a great night altogether. We each created 3 models looks.
I have 2 more events this Fall Fashion Week! I can't wait to tell you all more about them! Details coming soon!!

Johnny Lavoy's 9x9 by the PowerGroup

I know I did a video about this last week, here are some pictures and a written review I promised.

Ok here's the back story.... I went to this years NYC Makeup show with Ivette (Girlcanpaint from youtube) and got to met her friend.... the wonderful and dare I say DREAMY Johnny Lavoy. As he performed his wonderful tricks (mini makeover) on Ivette, I was excited to watch. He used 5 of the 7 pigments that come in his set, from the Powder Group. He's 9x9 has 7 pigments and 2 creamy nail polished. There are 3 other kits sold by the Powder Group (James Vincent , Kate Best, and Gregg Hubbard) all 4 have different groupings of makeup. Including nail polishes, pigments, cream bases, and eye shadows. And hello it all comes in a clear makeup bag!!! I have been "playing" with these gems of my makeup collection for a few weeks now.... the textures are wonderful wet and dry. Both ways work wonderful... I give more detail about the uses in my video.

As I said in the video I used a home made mixing medium of water and Glycerin.... wet my brush, dipped and applied!

The links above show where and how you can pick up your own 9x9.

Check out the video from Girlcanpaint of Johnny working the 9x9.

A few things I learned in the past few days.

1st: NOT to use Baby shampoo to wash my brushes. I'll protect my source.... but something about the No- Tears formulas do something to the REAL hair brushes.
2nd: There are hand handle UV lights for sanitizing items. And the prices range from $9 to $150.
3rd: My Son has selective hearing( I know this is not makeup but wait...) so when I say "Boomy put down Mommy's makeup!" He does hear me... just chooses not to listen.
4th: CS has amazing fast shipping.
5th: Deciding which Celebrity Makeup Artist I can ATTEMPT to copy is getting REALLY HARD!!! They are sooo awesome... I'm getting shy.
6th: I think I might be allergic to DUO lash glue.... which is really sad. After 3 hours my lash line gets a little puffy.

Ok that's what I learned the past few days. No major discoveries... but anyway important to me. I hope you enjoyed it

I am starting a new series on youtube!

Trying to challenge myself.

I was lucky to meet a Celebrity Makeup Artist, Victoria Stiles. Meeting her has really made me want to kick off this series. I had a full on live tut for this look... all step by step. But the audio got totally messed up. So I did put together a video with some pictures and loads of info on the side bar of the video!

I hope you all enjoy the look and challenge yourself to trying something new too. Be on the look out for a new Celebrity Makeup Artist look this weekend!

p.s. the link to my youtube channel is over to the right.
