2 Favs from The Makeup Show NYC 2011

Once again I had a wonderful year at The Makeup Show NYC!!! This was my 3rd year in a row... and I already cannot WAIT for next year!!! So hands down... for me these were 2 of my favs from the show... ready?!?!

I know I tweeted about my interest in this brush company as soon as I saw my Youtube friend Vanessa (@vanewpc) tweet her review on them!!! So Bdellium Tools gets my first pick. They were setup on the 2nd floor, along with Eve Pearl, Xotic Eyes, Empire Beauty School, and others. Heading out their collection had to be the Green Bambu series which boast Bamboo handles! The "Bamboo is one of the most sustainable resources and environmentally sound plants on Earth.1" The 100% synthetic bristles of the Green Bambu collection are NOT treated with the antibacterial agent. Good call tho, since synthetic brushes "are less likely to accure bacteria2" and everyone will want to see the cool green tint of the Vegan bristles. I also picked up a few of their Studio Line which are treated with the antibacterial agent and are all 7 layer lacquered birch wood handles.... I can't wait to try my new 985 which is a Duet Fiber powder brush!! If you can think... soft... it's still so much softer!!! LOL Watch for my haul video to see all of the brushes I picked up!! This BDellium link details upcoming shows they will be part of!

Pick 2... Pete Estey, President and Shanna Matthews, Creative Dir. at Naked Cosmetics once again came up with a product people love and who doesn't love a multi use product(7 different ways by my count!). Shanna introduced me to the newest collection.... ready.... wait for it.... TWILIGHT3... forget about it... I was reaching for my wallet before "-light" came out of her mouth!!! I think she saw how excited I was about the name that she gave me a set!! So I asked since I remember that the natural pigments could be used in different ways... "Can I mix these into Acrylic powder for nailart?" and the answer is YES!!! How awesome is that?? So look for some more nail tut using these 100% oxidized micas! Look for Naked Cosmetics at their next trade show.

Notes:1: Quote taken from pg 5 of the Bdellium Tools product brochure. 2: Quote taked from pg 7 of the Bdellium Tools product brochure. 3: I believe this collection is new to the line... I didn't see it on the Naked Cosmetics site. I was given some products by both of these companies, but I do not work for nor am I bias in anyway.

Johnny Lavoy's 9x9 by the PowerGroup

I know I did a video about this last week, here are some pictures and a written review I promised.

Ok here's the back story.... I went to this years NYC Makeup show with Ivette (Girlcanpaint from youtube) and got to met her friend.... the wonderful and dare I say DREAMY Johnny Lavoy. As he performed his wonderful tricks (mini makeover) on Ivette, I was excited to watch. He used 5 of the 7 pigments that come in his set, from the Powder Group. He's 9x9 has 7 pigments and 2 creamy nail polished. There are 3 other kits sold by the Powder Group (James Vincent , Kate Best, and Gregg Hubbard) all 4 have different groupings of makeup. Including nail polishes, pigments, cream bases, and eye shadows. And hello it all comes in a clear makeup bag!!! I have been "playing" with these gems of my makeup collection for a few weeks now.... the textures are wonderful wet and dry. Both ways work wonderful... I give more detail about the uses in my video.

As I said in the video I used a home made mixing medium of water and Glycerin.... wet my brush, dipped and applied!

The links above show where and how you can pick up your own 9x9.

Check out the video from Girlcanpaint of Johnny working the 9x9.

Great find at the M.U.S 2009

Pencil Me In Cosmetics!!!

What a great find from the Makeup Show 2009. Linda Eisner the owner and founder of the pencils hooked me up at the show with 3 of her really cool Pencils. At the show I was really impressed that her daughter , Stephanie had done her WHOLE eye look with just using the pencils and a small e/s brush. I meet them @ close to 4:30pm and Stephanie stated that she had had the makeup on from 6:30am!!! Crazy.... right! So Linda hand picked the ones she thought I should try... Orchid Spark, Char-kol, and Emerald City. You guys know I love purples!!!

WOW, I was really impressed once I came home. The textures of these pencils are wonderful. Creamy but not smudge, Intense but not funky, and good for ya!! So what is the story with these pencils you may ask. Well as Linda so perfectly stated in her interview with Koren (from EnKoreMakeup, youtube GURU) the eye area is one of the few places that accepts nutrients. So these pencils are infused with Vitamins and Anti-Oxidants (please watch the interview for list of vitamins!!!) Plus they include a ton of natural ingredients. Also, wait for it..... They each come with BUILT in sharpener!! Right in the cap. Perfect no major cleanup just sharpen and go!!

Ok so with this look I just used the Orchid Spark which has a great silver glitter(the glitters are NOT waterline safe) on the upper lash line. I did it semi thick cause I knew I wasn't going to do anything else to my eye area! I just popped a little liquid black liner to give the wing-out some definition. and that's it!!! I added mascara. What a simple effective summer look... right. Just enough pop of color to be fun, but not time consuming!!

The line has 30 colors... like Snow a true white, 24 Karat a rich gold, and Pink Lady Grease Fans would be proud!!
