Out of the ordinary...brush in hand???

Not always at a makeup spot!

I was just talking to one of my makeup artist friends and we were talking about the strangest, weirdest, or just out of the ordinary place we've done makeup!!  I have to say the weirdest place I've done makeup was on a bus into the city... I was on my way to an early morning photo shoot.
I jammed into my seat next to a young lady, kit between my legs, carry bag on my lap... I was touching up from the walk to the bus station and I heard... "Wow you have a lot of makeup in your makeup bag..." HAHA... she of course had no clue... we started talking and with in minutes I learned she was heading to an early lunch with a old college roommate!! She was nicely dressed, perfect hair do... and NOT A STITCH of makeup on!!!!  I was like... would you like me to do a little on you? Haa haa we had about a 30 min ride so in between the bumps and shifts we did the WHOLE face! I did wait until we stopped at Port Auth. to do her mascara... the last thing I needed was to be sued for jabbing her in the eye!  We parted and I cleaned my brushes at the start of my photo shoot!  My friend's story is a bit similar... she gave a lip-over on a subway! Seems like the girl was over blending and way too much lipgloss...

2 Favs from The Makeup Show NYC 2011

Once again I had a wonderful year at The Makeup Show NYC!!! This was my 3rd year in a row... and I already cannot WAIT for next year!!! So hands down... for me these were 2 of my favs from the show... ready?!?!

I know I tweeted about my interest in this brush company as soon as I saw my Youtube friend Vanessa (@vanewpc) tweet her review on them!!! So Bdellium Tools gets my first pick. They were setup on the 2nd floor, along with Eve Pearl, Xotic Eyes, Empire Beauty School, and others. Heading out their collection had to be the Green Bambu series which boast Bamboo handles! The "Bamboo is one of the most sustainable resources and environmentally sound plants on Earth.1" The 100% synthetic bristles of the Green Bambu collection are NOT treated with the antibacterial agent. Good call tho, since synthetic brushes "are less likely to accure bacteria2" and everyone will want to see the cool green tint of the Vegan bristles. I also picked up a few of their Studio Line which are treated with the antibacterial agent and are all 7 layer lacquered birch wood handles.... I can't wait to try my new 985 which is a Duet Fiber powder brush!! If you can think... soft... it's still so much softer!!! LOL Watch for my haul video to see all of the brushes I picked up!! Pick 2... Pete Estey, President and Shanna Matthews, Creative Dir. at Naked Cosmetics once again came up with a product people love and who doesn't love a multi use product(7 different ways by my count!). Shanna introduced me to the newest collection.... ready.... wait for it.... TWILIGHT3... forget about it... I was reaching for my wallet before "-light" came out of her mouth!!! I think she saw how excited I was about the name that she gave me a set!! So I asked since I remember that the natural pigments could be used in different ways... "Can I mix these into Acrylic powder for nailart?" and the answer is YES!!! How awesome is that?? So look for some more nail tut using these 100% oxidized micas! Look for Naked Cosmetics at their next trade show.

How To: Blush

Ok Ladies!!!

Who doesn't love a flushed cheek??? When you say Blush do you think clown, silly, or overdone? Those shouldn't be the words on your lips! Blush can be really easy. Start of with a color close to your natural skin tone... then when your A Okay with the application try some different colors!!! I did a quick video a few weeks ago about the placement of blush, cheek contour, and highlight. Check it out and let me know what you think!

New Look and stuff

Hey all!
So I've really tried to keep the videos rolling with Fall and colorful looks! I hope you all are as excited as I am about the Fall weather! Ok so here is a new look I thought up! I took some webcam pictures and did a video. I have to say I am really really missing my Kodak!!!! I feel like the webcam pictures are a bit washed out! So within a month(or so) I will be able to get a new cam!!! MORE PIXELS Baby!! Until then I hope you all are enjoying the looks on the youtube channel!

Here are the details for today's look!!
Eyes: prime with Lumene and UDPP, Claire De Lune (MAC) on the lid, Clarity (MAC) in the crease, Sweet Sienna(MAC) over the crease and up to the brow, and last Handwritten between the Lid and crease mostly on the outer corner and blend over! (Clarity and Sweet Sienna on lower lash line) Lined with INColor Fabu Liner black and Full and Soft mascara

Cheeks: Lovecrush(MAC) and Warm Blend(MAC) -deepest to contour and lightest to highlight

Lips: prep with EZBaby (MAC), liner Candied Violet(Revlon), and Gilty Kiss(MAC)

The package was so nicely packed!!!!! Bubble wrap for days! Came with some extras a 5 piece brush set and a glitter nail set. Comes in a white pearl texured box. The 3rd image is of the back label.... stating the use period.... a little funny. Then the 120 colors layed out, the shadows are about dime size.... there are a mix of Matte, Pearl, Satin, and Shimmery shades.

Great Idea!

"Wow I've never used this blush." and " Have I ever worn this lipgloss???" and the best "I knew I already that Mulch e/s (brow pencil, HIP duo, NYX jumbo eye pencil, Relvon l/s... etc.)"

Any of these thoughts sound familiar to you? If so I think it's time we re-check out our collections.

This is my short story: I just brought a new 5 drawer desk top storage unit. Cause my lipsticks and blushes were getting out of control. I moved almost every draw around. I CAN'T BELIEVE a that stuff fit in just 15 drawers(before pic above). Because now that I have 20 drawers I STILL need more room!!! And can I tell you all the truth... half of the things I have... I've used only once! So I'm taking some advice I saw on one of my friends youtube channel.

Open up your stash/collections move stuff around... put it where you'll see it. Try some new color combos, reach in and pick out those colors you haven't used in months. Now that I'm using my stuff for work I am hoping to go thru my collection more now....

How offend....

How offend do you wash your makeup brushes?

I wash 2 times a week AT LEAST... and spot cleaning with spray brush cleaner when needed. I deep clean every 2 weeks OR after I use my brushes on anyone else.

There are many ways to wash your brushes, but the KEY is the drying!!! Try to lay your brushes FLAT or blow-dry your brushes! Do not let your brushes dry in a jar standing up.... the water will travel down and rot the handle and loosen the glue.

Here are some tips from me:

* Spot clean brushes

* To avoid stains white haired brushes should be spot cleaned right after use.

* Store up, Dry flat.

* If you can't find MU brush cleaner try Baby Shampoo or Mild (oil free) face wash.

* Wash warm, Rinse cool.

* Try to remember to "turn" brushes when they are drying (like after 1 hour)

* Brushes you don't use a lot can collect dust and irritate your skin, try spot cleaning or wiping on a clean washcloth before use.
